Introducing a KomfiTilt lateral tilting device

If you have a disability, experience limited mobility; are recovering from an injury or surgery, or are caring for someone who is experiencing any of the above, a KomfiTilt lateral tilting device could help.

When should you use/introduce a KomfiTilt lateral tilting device?

Introducing a KomfiTilt lateral tilting device

A lateral tilting system, such as that offered by KomfiTilt, should be used when a patient is at high risk of developing pressure ulcers; is unable to reposition themselves regularly, or experiences discomfort from prolonged pressure on specific areas of their body, particularly when manual turning is difficult or not feasible such as significantly limited mobility.

Situations or circumstances where lateral tilting systems should be used or introduced include:

High risk of pressure ulcers: patients with limited mobility, significant medical conditions affecting their skin integrity, or those who are bedridden for extended periods are at high risk of pressure sores & ulcers and would therefore benefit greatly from a lateral tilting system.

Difficulty with manual turning & positioning: a KomfiTilt lateral tilting device can be used  when a caregiver struggles to manually reposition a patient. This could be due to a number of different reasons such as the patient’s size, weight, or medical complications.

Pain from pressure points: a lateral tilting system can also be introduced to relieve pressure on especially bony or vulnerable areas of the body  like the hips, sacrum, and heels, in order to prevent discomfort from pressure and potential skin breakdown.

Prevention of complications: a KomfiTilt can also be used to help to prevent other complications like pneumonia, pulmonary atelectasis, and contractures associated with prolonged immobility. They achieve this by facilitating the gentle movement of the patient.

Improves sleep quality: a lateral tilting system can also be used by those who wake during the night where they can’t move, and may experience numbness in areas of the body.
